The test consists of one question paper of 100 Marks. The Question Paper consists of 100 Multiple Choice-Questions (MCQs) on Biotechnology including Life Sciences subjects.
Results will be displayed on the notice board of Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune - 411 018 and will also be available on website at www.dypatiluniversity.org. Results of individual candidate will not be communicated on telephone or by post.

The two year M.Sc. (Biotechnology) course has four semesters. The first three semesters cover 75 credits with: basic subjects such as: Mathematics, Biostatistics, Cell Biology, Bio-analytical Techniques; Life science areas such as: Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, and Biotechnology topics such as: Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Animal & Plant Tissue Culture, Enzymology and Enzyme Technology, Bioprocess Technology and Bioengineering. The course on Bioinformatics is introduced to familiarize the student with different application of Bioinformatics in speeding up discoveries in Biotechnology, similarly a course on Biosafety, Bioethics and IPR is introduced to make the student more suitable for the Industry. There are number of elective courses such as: Biopharmaceuticals, Food Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Clinical Research, Molecular Modeling and Drug Designing, Nano-biotechnology etc.

The fourth semester (six months) has fifteen credits. It is dedicated to industry posting and / or research posting in the reputed research institute. Students can also do research in the Dr. D. Y. Patil Biotechnology & Bioinformatics Institute with senior faculty members.

Bachelor (B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hon), B.Tech.) in Biology, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Human Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, Agriculture Biotechnology, B. Pharm, M.B.B.S., or B.V.Sc., of recognized Indian or Foreign University.

Admission to M.Sc. Biotechnology shall be on All India basis through an All India Entrance test conducted by Dr .D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth Candidates would be selected on the basis of merit and should be ready for on the spot admission after a personal Counselling session as per the schedule given.

Note - Any application received by the Vidyapeeth after due date, shall not be entertained nor the Demand Draft or fees shall be Sent back to the Candidate. No claim regarding such delay in applications shall be entertained nor communicated to the Candidates. It shall be total responsibility of the Candidate to take proper care to reach the application form on or before due date of submission.

The Annual fee is to be paid by the student at the time of counseling and on-the-spot admission session by a Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of "Director, Dr. D. Y. Patil Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute", payable at Pune.

In case any seat earmarked for NRI/PIO/FNs is not filled in by the candidates of any of these of these sub-categories,the mangement shall fill in such vacant seat(s) from the candidate(s) who has / have cleared the Entrance Test.The fees payable by such candidate shall be Rs. 1,30,000/-per annum.

Ten Percent (10%) of the Annual Fee, payable for the first year only, shall be paid by the student separately at the time of filling in the Eligibility Application, as University Eligibility & Registration Fee. This fee shall be paid by a Demand Draft (DD) Drawn in favour of "Registrar, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri" payable at Pune.

(Note: The Vidyapeeth Eligibility & Registration Fee is non-refundable)

The student shall pay the Vidyapeeth Examination Fee as prescribed by the Vidyapeeth from time to time. Other conditions and formalities shall be as per the Rules of the Vidyapeeth.

Annual Fee: Admission to the course can be cancelled at the request of the student on submission of an application, in the prescribed format, and original receipt. Refund of the Annual Fee in such case shall be done as per the following chart:

Important : If a student, admitted to the programme, desires to discontinue studies, at any time after 90 calendar days from the date of counseling and on-the-spot-admission, and/or migrate to another University/College during the programme, he/she shall be required to pay the full amount of tuition fees and other fees for the remaining entire duration of the programme as per the amount of fees fixed while taking admission.

Note : Please note that the application and entrance test fee is non-refundable.

Ragging in any form is a punishable offence in accordance with the "UGC REGULATIONS ON CURBING THE MENACE OF RAGGING IN HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, 2009", and committing this act of indiscipline shall result in - PUNISHMENT UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF ANY PENAL LAW FOR THE TIME BEING IN FORCE.

Candidates on admission will be provide with detailed guidelines related to ragging.

Difference of opinion and any dispute arising in the interpretation and implementation of the clauses in this brochure, if any, shall be referred to the Vice-Chancellor of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune and his decision shall be final and binding on all the concerned. Biotechnology combines Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Fermentation Technology, Bioprocess Engineering, Tissue Culture Technology, Molecular Biology, Recombinant DNA technology and Economics. Bioinformatics helps to speed up the discovery of new products such as: diagnostics, drugs, Neutraciticals, Proteins, Enzymes, Cosmetics, Detergents and Pesticides. It also helps basic research in medical and agricultural sciences.

The candidate seeking admissions to any course of the Vidyapeeth is warned against possible cheating by unscrupulous persons, who may promise and assure seats by extracting large sums of money, from the parents/candidates.The Vidyapeeth has not appointed any such agent(s). The Vidyapeeth shall not, in any way, be responsible for the misdeeds of such person(s).
